   Lasting Power of Attorney

By appointing an attorney a person can ensure that if he or she becomes mentally incapable in the future, the person he or she trusts and wants to look after his or her affairs will be the one who does so.

The Alzheimer's Society estimates that there are currently over 750,000 people in the UK with dementia, many of these may go on to become mentally incapable.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document which empowers a named person or persons to look after the financial and business affairs of another person. You can also obtain a separate LPA to nominate someone to look after your social welfare.

If a Property and Affair LPA is in place the attorney can use the person’s money to pay bills, and thhe can buy and sell shares. They have limited power to make gifts with yourr money or give away your belongings.Enduring Power of Attorney Wiltshire

Anyone over the age of eighteen who is mentally capable can create a Lasting  Power of Attorney.

The Property and Affairs LPA can be registered and used before mental incapacity, this can be useful if you would like someone else to manage your financial affairs on your behalf.

Prior to use all LPA's must be registered. To get your LPA drafted and ensure peace of mind why not have our consultants come and visit you in the comfort of your home for a free consultation.
